1. The short version
This site sets no cookies for advertising, analytics or tracking. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
What does exist is some local storage used to keep your basket and your currency, plus two outside services. All of it is described below.
2. What we store in your browser
We use local storage rather than cookies. The difference matters: local storage is not transmitted to the server with each request. Three things are kept there:
- Your basket — just the identifiers of the titles you picked. Cleared when you empty the basket or clear your browsing data.
- Your currency — if you choose one from the selector, so we stop guessing. Kept until you change it.
- A country code — two letters, from the lookup described below, kept for 30 days so the request is not repeated on every page.
None of these reach us, and none of them identify you to us.
3. Working out your currency
To show prices in a currency that makes sense for you, the site asks api.country.is which country your IP address belongs to. That service sees your IP address in order to answer; it returns only a country code.
If you would rather it did not happen, choose a currency manually from the selector at the top of the page: your choice is stored and the lookup stops being used. Blocking the request has the same effect — the site then falls back to a guess from your browser's language and time zone, which makes no network request at all.
4. Fonts
The typefaces are served by Google Fonts. Your browser requests them from Google, and your IP address is visible to Google as part of that request.
Together with the lookup above, that is the entire list of third-party content on this site. There is no social media pixel, no embedded map, no external video and no analytics tool.
5. Server logs
As with any website, our server records requests in a log file containing the IP address, date, time and page requested. That is not a cookie: it happens on the server, not in your browser, and exists for security and diagnosis. The detail is in our Privacy Policy.
6. Staying in control
You can clear local storage at any time through your browser settings, usually under "clear browsing data". Doing so empties your basket and forgets your currency choice.
You can also block external fonts with a browser extension. The site carries on working; it simply falls back to the default typefaces on your system.
7. If this changes
Should we adopt anything that does rely on cookies — analytics or a payment provider, for instance — this page will be updated first, and a consent prompt will appear where the law requires one.
